Seems I have been sleeping on the job recently. Not really, the temps here have been close to 110 degrees and have been working at keeping chickens cool. A new misting system will be here tomorrow to help.

Darn pool is so hot 96 degrees, i seem to fighting a losing battle to algae, so off to the store soon for lots of shock. Even above ground pools are expensive to maintain...and you jump in and it is like a hot tub. In ground pools rock at keeping water cooler and refreshing.

All livestock doing well...can't find a reason why the goats keep getting out, starting to be thinking they are climbing a 5 foot fence. Fun to watch as they stick close to the horse herd as they rotate through the pastures.

Horses are fat and sassy, would do some lunging but it is just too hot. Wait all winter to ride and it is just too hot both for the rider and the horse. *Sigh* Babies are growing so fast will wander out and take some new pictures of the 'gang'.

Decor

Have been working very hard to make this modest house look a bit better. One of my first projects was a set of planters in the front. Now...I laid the block and had a blast learning and perfecting leveling them. Here is my base row on the first planter. Completely Level!!

and further in the project:

 And Finally the finished product

Needs more flowers I think and some mulch. The Hydrangea needs watering multiple times per day. Still need to excavate and prepare for the path I am going to lay. That will be a bit more challenging due to the slope but I LOVE a challenge!!

Here is the porch swing I installed late one night.

and the wreath I did my best on for the front door lol. The directions just didn't make sense so I improvised ROFL!

We decided to update the kitchen. Orinal though was to replace cabinets...but we can save a lot of money just by painting them! Here is a pic of the BLAH Kitchen.

and the look we are going for...

The pantry door which is actually a utility rm/laundry room, and pantry will look something like the above pic.

Will use chickens as my design element

So off to shopping I go...it will be more work but will save us thousands of dollars and I can still have a granite countertop and farmhouse sink. Wahoo!!!

Have a Blessed Day!!

Trust God

This says it all:

 And I did!!

Things just kept happening...took me awhile to catch on that God was calling me to a different life and task

What I didn't know was that what Satan meant for evil God turned to GOOD!! He is truly amazing in what He can and Will Do!!He changed my life by 180 degrees. I used to be on the squirrel wheel, working for others, and having little time to live. HE opened the door for me to jump off the wheel and Live life. To enjoy HIM and live FOR HIM! To love my family and enjoy waking up everyday.

I also have several health issues which made it extremely hard to work. One of them was High Blood Pressure. While on medication it would read 143/98. Now, I never liked chickens, never thought I would have them, but they are such a joy to watch, my blood pressure without medication is now 111/78. Hallelujah! The cure for high blood pressure is get off the squirrel wheel and get a CHICKEN!!! Now I can make a mint off that simple cure...bet it works for other diseases too but currently can only quantify that one!! More about my chickens later.

We moved in to our Farm the beginning of June. I was blessed that my eldest sons flew down and helped us or we would have been in trouble. Thank You Thomas and Andy!! When we moved in the property was severely overgrown. Here it is after a quick mow of just a small patch in front of the house.

We were also blessed that there was a structure next to the house that was previously used for ?????
It is about 10 x 12 with a covered porch.A perfect Chicken Coop!!

So our first project was to get a coop ready for the 85 Americauna/Easter Egger chickens that were due in 2 weeks. Americauna chickens lay pastel colored eggs such as green, blue, and pink.

So we first tackled the coop itself as they would have to brooded for awhile

Next came construction of their run

And we were ready!!!

They arrived all healthy. We did lose one the next day but that was extent of the loss. Here they have been introduced to the food and water by dipping their beak into the water and then food.

And when they sleep..they almost look like they have passed away because they sprawl in the funniest positions like they just dropped from sheer exhaustion. I checked them frequently the first few nights and they continued to thrive and grow like weeds. Soon little personalities came out. The colors can hardly be described. Many were colored just like a chipmunk, there were several yellows, one black, and some gray and black babies. I had ordered 77 hens and 8 roosters but to this day I am not sure how many roosters I really have.

The Beginning of a NEW JOURNEY

It sure is funny how life works. You think you have it all figured out and WHAM!!! something happens that turns your world upside down. God works in mysterious ways and a lot of times I just didn't see what He was trying to tell me.

Hello, My name is Anna Richter. If you knew me previous to June 2015 I need to reintroduce myself as God has done wondrous things in my life and has changed me completely. I am 47 married to the love of my life Mark with 4 awesome children Thomas, Andy, Marki, and Grace. Two are adults now and I am so proud of the people they have become. Marki and Grace are still at home and will be starting in an online Christian Academy in a few weeks.

In the past I used my occupation to define who I was. I have a degree in Chemistry but became a Metallurgist in steel and pipe. I depended on the schools to educate my kids. I existed. I wasn't living.
God changed all that

There is a lot of history...but it no longer matters to me as I live in the here and now anticipating Living the future as well.

Now, through the grace of God, I find myself the owner of a large farm named MeadowGrove Acres outside of Shreveport, LA. 36 acres of bliss with hay pastures, riding arena, 12 stall barn, greenhouse, pool, a new chicken coop, and a modest log home. I have 10 horses, 3 goats, 100 chickens, 4 geece, 2 ducks, 2 dogs, a cat, a parrot, a pair of lovebirds, and 4000 mealworms. Except for the horses, dogs, cats, and birds, the rest are all recent acquisitions to my growing family.

I am a bit late starting this blog so several of the postings will be of the recent past dating back to my adventures since June 2015.

When not tending to the multitudes of animals and my children, I spend my time on Facebook. There I am part of a very large ministry for Christians.I also have my own ministry for end-time prophecy as I believe we are soon to be called home to heaven.
